Smithy is an interface definition language and set of tools that allows developers to build clients and servers in multiple languages. Smithy models define a service as a collection of resources, operations, and shapes. A Smithy model enables API providers to generate clients and servers in various programming languages, API documentation, test automation, and example code. In this role, you will work across the internal and external communities to develop enhancements to modeling languages as well as develop new tools to simplify various aspects of cloud-based applications.We are looking for an engineer who is obsessed with giving customers the best possible developer experience, has strong development skills, and is excited to build high-quality open-source software in a fast moving, agile environment.To succeed in this role, you should be incredibly customer focused, have a strong understanding of programming languages and knowledge of developer communities. 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market.
